Eileen Brennan received her BA and MA from University College Dublin and her Habilitation au Doctorat and Doctorat en Philosophie from the Institut Catholique de Paris. She has held lectureships at Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin and is now an Assistant Professor at Dublin City University. She writes in the areas of phenomenology, hermeneutics, theories of justice, and the philosophy of education and has translated works by Paul Ricœur, Jean Greisch, Dominique Janicaud, and Julia Kristeva.
She is currently co-Chair of the Society for Women in Philosophy (Ireland) and a member of DCU’s Women in Leadership Action Group, where she represents DCU’s fifth Faculty: the Institute of Education. She is a former co-editorial director of the international, peer-reviewed academic journal, Études Ricœuriennes /Ricœur Studies, which is published by the University of Pittsburgh. In that role she was an ex officio member of the Board of Directors of the international, interdisciplinary Society for Ricoeur Studies.
