Her interest in Chinese language and culture is long standing, and she has worked to promote the study of both in Ireland for many years. Her work forms part of an overall national strategy to promote Sino-Irish relations in the fields of culture, education and business.  She is a former Chair of the Dublin Chinese New Year Festival and is currently a council member with the Ireland China Business Association. Odran has extensive experience in the pubic, private and NGO sectors having worked with the Greater London Council, the Inner London Education Authority, The Institute of International and European Affairs, Northside Partnership, two members of the European Parliament, before becoming the the first CEO of NorDubCo as well as establishing his own consultancy firm specialising in planning and corporate governance. As well as being Chairperson of Northside Counselling Service, Odran is a director and Company Secretary of Northside Homecare Service, and has held many previous directorships in NGO’s and State bodies including the Garda Síochána Complaints Board and Irish Water Safety. He is currently a member of the Planning and Property Development Strategic Policy Committee (SPC) in Dublin City Council and the Economics and Enterprise SPC in Fingal County Council. He is a member of the QQI Appeals Panel and is secretary of the Irish Branch of the Institute of Economic Development. Odran is an economics graduate of Trinity College Dublin and a masters graduate in Spatial Planning from the Technological University, Dublin (TU Dublin). After studying architecture at University College Dublin and the University of Athens, he joined the Labour Party in 1965 and won a seat in Dublin City Council in 1974. While working as an architect, he developed a keen interest in environmental issues. He was elected a Labour Party TD (Parliament Member) in 1977, and from there on he served as government Minister in the departments of Finance, Education, Enterprise and Employment, Public Service, the Environment and Labour and Urban Affairs. A staunch believer in a strong and unified Europe, Quinn was President of the Ecofin Council of the European Union in 1996 and worked hard to strengthen Ireland’s role in the EU. He played a major part in the successful instigation of Europe’s single Currency, and secured Ireland’s qualification for it. He continued his deep interest in European Affairs and was a key player in European Movement Ireland. He was Head of the Irish Labour Party from 1997-2002 and is currently Vice-President and Treasurer of the Party of European Socialists. He also teaches as adjunct Professor in Trinity College Business School. Since 2017, Ruairí Quinn has been the Chairperson of the Institute for International and European Affairs (IIEA) and this year joined the board of the Ireland China Institute. 首页

A member and leader of the Fine Gael political party, he previously served as a Cabinet Minister (Tourism and Trade 1994-97) and Minister of State (Education and Labour ’86-87). As the longest serving TD in Dáil Éireann, Enda Kenny was also Vice-President of Fine Gael’s European affiliate, the European People’s Party from 2006-2012. From Castlebar in the West of Ireland, Enda is a former primary school teacher and has served in a wide variety of Party and Parliamentary positions. During his tenure, he oversaw an unprecedented growth in Irish tourism and Ireland’s trade position internationally. As Minister he also chaired the European Union Council of Trade Ministers during Ireland’s Presidency, and he co-chaired the successful Singapore round of the World Trade Organisation talks in 1996. Through the fostering of international trade, Enda played a significant role in developing the economic boom that began in Ireland in from the late nineties on. In 2009 he set up his own consultancy, Chinaportal, which is firmly established as a market leader doing business in China. He accompanied the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese on her visit to Shanghai’s Expo 2010 and also joined the Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny TD (Taoiseach) on a trade mission to China in March 2012. Ken has sourced a diverse and wide range of products in China on behalf of Chinaportal’s Irish and international clients and is currently working with several Irish and Chinese companies seeking retail and investment opportunities in both countries. Ken is a former Chairman of the Ireland China Business Association, and also a former Chairman of the Ireland China Institute. He graduated from UCD with a philosophy degree, from Trinity College with a Masters degree and is currently completing a Ph.D in Educational Management in Trinity College, Dublin. He previously worked as a Post primary School Principal and was also the first Director of the Irish Refugee Council. From 1982 to 1986, he reported for Irish national television’s “Today Tonight” programme on cutting edge Irish and international news. Having graduated from Trinity College as an economist and worked as a lecturer in economics, he became actively involved in politics in the late eighties as founding Secretary General of the Progressive Democrats in Ireland. He was elected to the Dáil representing Cork South-Central 1992 and served as the party’s finance spokesman. Deeply committed to the success of the European Union, Pat Cox was a member of the European parliament from 1989 to 2004. He served, among other positions, on the Committees for Economic and Monetary Affairs, Institutional Affairs and Legal Affairs. He was President of the European Parliament from 2002 to 2004, campaigning to promote the enlargement of the European Union and has received many awards and distinctions for this work, including honorary Doctorates from several Irish universities. He was named “Member of the European Parliament of the Year” in 2001 and The American Chamber of Commerce to the EU voted him recipient of the “Transatlantic Business Award of the Year 2004”. Among other international honours, he is the recipient of the “International Charlemagne Prize” in Aachen and of France’s highest honour, the title of Commandeur de la Légion d’honneur.  He is currently president of the Jean Monnet Foundation for Europe and Honorary Vice President of the European Movement Ireland, among other roles.
